and char-broiled too, in places.
there wasn’t much firefighting done to contain this fire. little bit near houses, some of which would have been well within reach on a windy day. wasn’t a windy day, so it pretty much reached the natural and constructed boundaries and burned itself out. there were some small flareups the day after (wednesday) and i saw a wee bit of rising smoke on friday, but all the good fuel was spent in the big blaze. and, ok, having taken a closer look, i won’t argue with 150-200 acres.
so anyway, it’s about 5000f here, and dry and…ok, not 5000. bout 90. been setting records for most of the week. couple more days though and we should be back to a normal 70f. and then there’s this air quality map. we got pollen up the bahootie. think i spelled that right. whatever, i’m not handling it well. might get better at. anyway, either way, we continue.

Bermuda Grass, which we call couch, but pronounce kooch, causes a lot of allergies here. As does Buffel Grass, an import from the sub-continent. Prolly came in Camel Saddles brought here by Afghan camel drivers. Cattle seemed to like it so it was spread by cattlemen. Now people sneeze and itch and whatever.
Anyway, I guess it’s good for business 😉
Gorgeous clear colors, kim – that sky, your red hat, the shirt, everything. Almost a non-abstract Mondrian, if that’s possible. And you don’t look as if it’s too hot for comfort. Just cool.
Hey, I finally put myself on flickr and worked out how to look at your photos there. It’s all to do with finding ways of processing the 127 film I have on hand, but have yet to expose and print. This will be about a 3 month project!!
